Connector will not snap to grid

I have upgraded from Visio 2010 to 2013.

In 2010 I was able to drag a connector endpoint and snap to the grid anywhere on the drawing or connect to a connection point on a shape.

In 2013 I am unable to do this if the connector is near a shape or object.  I have changed my "Visual Aids" settings to the same settings as I was using in 2010.  I do not want to use a connection point to be able to snap the endpoint of the connector to the grid.

Is there a setting I can change or a way to force the connector to snap to the grid?

Thanks!
