Here's a few examples of filling shapes that appear to be non-contiguous.
Each of these is a single shape, not groupped, no special shape operations -- at least, not in the sense of Menu Bar > Shape > Operations.
Some of these do employ extra geometry sections in the shapesheet. The third one is just a meandering single line that is closed back on itself.
