Whenever in the past I felt like playing with my fellow "visioneers" during weekend, I had to wait till next monday to find someone.
Nowadays Corona, with its lock downs and home office regulations, seems to loosen the distinction between work day and week end.
Silly thought of mine.  :o

is it something else ... ?

Here in the UK things are almost back to normal (whatever that is), but I still wear a face mask when going in a shop etc. There are still too many people sick here and too many deaths, I think it's too early ...

Would Omicron be the saviour?
So as to infect more people, yet having less severe consequences?

Well, it was not my point anyway. I was just happy reading so much new posts in Visguy's forum on a saturday evening.
Yeah!

Well, Corona (the virus, not the beer), probably has something to do with it.  Weather, too, for Northern hemisphere... Baby, it's cold outside.  For me, it's life style change so I have a new time void that needs filling.  Some of the more recent posts are touching on new ideas that are evoking more responses.

It's certainly nice to see / read responses from established contributors who have been on hiatus.

Not quite back to the normal routine yet, 2C at 9am tomorrow so doing a 8 mile (13km) walk tomorrow morning, instead of the normal 30 mile cycle ride.
Found this the other day, me and the wife out cycling:

Have to take your word for the pic showing you and wife.  Hard to tell with it being backwards.   ::)

Do you have proper roundabouts over there?

Roundabouts...Yes.  Mostly in the east coast states.  Rare/sporadically on west coast.  Was quite a surprise to me back in 1970 upon my first encounter / revelation about such a traffic contrivance.  Who in their right mind would do such a thing???  A traffic flow free-for-all.  Ok.... Close your eyes, pedal to the metal, and go for it!

Proper???  First, in the sense of British linguistics re their existence...yes.  In the sense of British design, no. Ours go counter-clockwise.  In the sense of their existence...there is nothing proper about them.  I think that covers the main, possible renderings of "proper".

I'd say they work OK in light traffic scenarios.  But in high volume, i.e., "saturated traffic lanes", not so well.  If you, unfortunately, ended up near the center of the hub, you could go around and round, as no one would yield to let you migrate to exit.

I don't think you understand roundabouts. Free-for-all? No. All very civilised. They work well. No getting trapped on the inside. Yes, I have seen that episode of The Simpsons.

I suspect there is a traffic light lobby in Germany.
Despite we can see how well roundabout work at our neighbours the dutch or the french, we seem to prefer the lights.
fascinating topic by the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yITr127KZtQ&ab_channel=euverus

Really cool traffic animations.  Some of those I've never seen before.  The turbo roundabout was really different.   The dumbbell roundabout was fascinating.
