In my work I have to write quite complicated switching programmes to safely complete tasks without causing myself or anyone else harm. Part of this process has always been to complete diagrams and I use Visio for this. However, once you are up to 30 or 40 steps of a programme it can be had to remember what state the equipment is in, so I wondered if it is possible to have a shape in Visio such as a switch that you can have either closed or open and be able to toggle between the two states without having to redraw it every time. If this was possible, I could design my circuit and then run through all the individual switching steps and have the Visio diagram always current with the state of the system. Just a thought and if Visio can't do this do you think there is a programme.

Many Thanks

Thank you both.

Given me a lot to think about already.

I would like to know more about "Connected Shapes" as Paul calls them, would anyone recommend where to start?

Thanks
