custom fill pattern is blurry for larger shapes

Hi,

When I use a custom fill pattern for a small shape, it looks OK on screen and when exported to PDF. However, the resolution decreases for larger shapes using the pattern. See attached screenshots. The pattern is simple: alternating solid and dashed diagonal lines.

Sometimes within a single shape, part part of the pattern is clear (high resolution), while part is blurry (low resolution). For example, if I place (superimpose) a small shape on top of the shape with the blurry pattern, the pattern becomes clear. When enlarging the super-imposed shape, the pattern becomes blurry.

Has anyone experiences this and/or have a solution?

Selecting "Scaled" doesn't help. I've also tried changing the size of the shape sheet where the pattern is. It's currently a 4-by-4 mm square. That doesn't help. One work-around is to segment a larger shape into smaller ones, but that's cumbersome.

Also, I've used this pattern in both Visio 2010 and 2016. It's possible that the problem arose when using Visio 2016. But I'm pretty sure that I've made "fresh" patterns that have the same issue.

Thanks!
