I am drawing up Visio process maps as part of a major change initiative.  There are a lot of maps and I need an effective way to manage the process steps in all of them.  It was suggested I use a data file to hold the numbers and use the data functionality in Visio to expose them.  So far so good.

The wrinkle I have is that I am using layers to allow the top-level context map to show the interactions between functions.  As I have it set now, I can expose or hide the Visio shapes by turning the layers on or off, but the data elements remain visible even when the layer is turned off.

Can anyone help?

Cheers, GrazzaD

Answered my own question...  Just select the data item and look for the Data Graphic box in the assign to a layer pop up, uncheck this and select the layer required.  Simple when you know how :)
