I'm new here.  Apologies if this question has been asked before.  If it has, I couldn't find it with a search.

Is there a way (without programming) to insert or add the shape name (as can be seen on the visio pro 2016 "Developer" tab as "shape name") into the shape data?

If I create a shape (say a rectangle) I can display any Data I create for that shape, on the shape by using Insert --> Field and then selecting =prop.field-name.  I can create a complex formula and display multiple fields.  Similarly I can  insert the shape name onto the shape by using Insert --> object info --> Name.  It appears I cannot have both at once.

In the first instance I would like to display the shape name on the object.

thanks,
andy

You can show multiple fields.  One way is to place text cursor in the shape, insert a desired field, go back to the shape, move cursor to next line, insert next desired field, etc, etc.
