Visio Pro 2003 SP3 under Win XP SP3

When using Area Select some guides get selected along with the shapes. Is there any way to prevent this? Edit>Select by Type doesn't help since I don't want to select all shapes in the diagram.

I have noticed that Lasso Select does not select guides, but I find it much less convenient than Area Select.

Thanks.

You can check option settings to "Select shapes partially within area." in
Files/Options/Advanced/Select shapes partially within area.
