I am having a problem with connection points in Visio 2010.  I've drawn an audio rack and would like to be able to "drop" pieces of equipment in.  I drew a green rectangle and it snaps like it should, but my drawing of a Furman line conditioner won't snap at all.

Question 1
Why won't the drawing of the line conditioner snap on anything?

Thank you, this is driving me crazy!

Hi
I don't have time to explane right now but play with those red maked options in the printscreens...

Thank you for your help. Setting it to 1-Dimensional worked. I guess I'm being picky but it's a little annoying that the image disappears when moving it except for a blue dotted line. I downloaded some APC and Tripp Lite stencils and their's are set to 1-Dimension but they don't disappear when moving around.

Thanks!

I thint it wold apear if you whait a while when draging it. It depends on the Machine Visio is running on how long it takes to render or so...

Is there a way to get the power conditioner to Bottom align with the connector points?

Thanks

danvisi

Oh well, I can't upload the new file because it's too big.  The one Novski uploaded aligns to the bottom like it should.

ah. now i understand.
open the shapesheet and find the cell "pinY" in the top of that window, wich may have a value =Height*0.5 and set it to =Height*0 or maybe 0.01 or so..

Here is a useful tutorial for when you want to create additional rack shapes.

Is there a way to lock objects that are grouped together? I sometimes accidentally grab an object within an object and have to undo to fix it. I still would like to be able to select and move the grouped object, just not the objects within.

Thanks

In my first foto you can see a field called "gruppe" and a drop down beside it. I don't know how its called on english but try to set that dropdown to groupe first or play with those option. You will discover that changeing this option changes the number of times you have to cklick to:
1.select (sub-shape, groupe)
2.move (")
3.type (to groupe or shape inside the groupe.)
