Hi, I'm using Visio 2013 for creating sequence diagrams.  I have a fixed grid set with snap to grid feature enabled, which has generally worked well for me.  However, I often need to "shift" the drawing down.  This involves selecting all (or a large part) of the drawing and dragging it down.  When I do this, I find that the items in the drawing are "detached" from the grid.  What I'm looking for is to find the fastest way to re-attach the items in the drawing to the grid, or to move a part of the drawing without it being detached from the grid.  It takes me 10-15 minutes to manually reattach the items to the grid each time.

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Best would be you take care to stay within the grid when moving your shapes. In V2007 it was easy to raise the snapping priority of the grid. In V2013 it is easy too, but it doesn't really work. Try it anyway.
In the Ribbons to find in "Display" and press the small button to widen the "Visual help". The Dialog has 2 tabs. On the second one you can adjust the grid's priority. (Not sure about the menu names, I work with a german version).

2nd option you use the tool I posted 2 days ago: http://visguy.com/vgforum/index.php?topic=6914.msg28882;topicseen#msg28882
The script would be:
IF PinX exists THEN
PinX:=INT([VAL(PinX)]/20mm)*20mm;
PinY:=INT([VAL(PinY)]/20mm)*20mm;
ENDIF

Replace the 20mm by your own grid spacing.
