Hi,

I would like to configure visio's routing in a way that simply makes it impossible that two connectors overlap.
I tried the visios routing properties like "overlapping" "separation" in varios ways but it is still possible to overlap connectors.

Any hints anybody?

Thx

Servas Wolfgang!

The "separate" and "overlap" are ja knarrisch, oder?

*Sometimes* they seem to work better if you re-layout after changing the settings. Also, I think the settings for spacing might help. Maybe if connector-to-connector is quite small, then it will be easier for Visio to not overlap incoming/outgoing connections to a shape.

Another tactic, if you have a small set of shapes and "control your own universe": add lots of closely spaced connection points to shapes.

But honestly, I don't know how to do it 100%. I usually play and tweak and pray until something looks better than it was.

The other thing to consider, is that "handmade" routing is always better than the best routing routine.
Even crossing connectors can be made easier to read than any routing that is forced to avoid crossing.

One more point: I often do round the corners of the connectors. This seems to make complex routings easier to follow.
