Walls stopped connecting/cleaning up

Running visio 2010 professional.  Posted yesterday my area calc wasn't working, realized this morning my walls don't connect/cleanup.  Anyone have any hints - getting desperate.

First of all, try creating a new diagram of the same type (room plan or whatever). Does that work correctly? This test will determine whether it's room plan diagrams in general that have stopped working or if it's something particular to your drawing.

If the room plan doesn't work then try some of the other diagram types that rely on an addon (like UML, Cross-functional flowchart, Calender, Timeline).

thanks for getting back so quickly.  I tried a new document/blank page - walls still don't clean up.  the space shape under the walls, shell and structure shapes does not recalculate when resized.  The add-on under visio extra, perimeter/area does not calculate.  I'm not sure about the other diagrams you mentioned as I have never used them.  I did try to drag the multiple week shape on the page.  when I right clicked to configure - assume that's how you change the date range - nothing happened.  I also did a "repair" for the overall install, that didn't do anything.

That's the big clue, looks like no addon is working.
Ribbon File -> Options -> Advanced -> General section
ensure that Enable automation events is enabled.

that was checked.  I should also note fwiw that there are no add-ins aside from some pdf related ones listed in the active application add-ins list.  Nor are any disabled.

The active addins list only lists 3rd-party addins, not the built-in ones.
Sorry, I'm out of ideas.

Did anything happen on the pc before you noticed this behavior?  Install a new program, abnormal computer behavior...something that might have created a corruption?  I'm leaning toward an uninstall/re-install scenario may be necessary.

I guess, before that, could you upload a sample file that's not working so that we could try running it?  That would also eliminate the file as the problem.  Unfortunately, I don't have access to V2010, so it will have to be someone else to look at it.

don't recall any new software.  only changes were the regular windows updates.  Actually went back to older drawings and the same issue.  What I also noticed, which I posted separately, was that the area calc shape stopped working.  I drag the shape, it comes in at 100sf, I can resize it but the value doesn't change.  Again, went back to an older drawing with the area shape adjusted for that space, adjusted its size and no change in the value.  Also tired the perimeter/area add-in - use to work, nothing happens now.  I did try a repair on the software, no help.  I called Microsoft, they wanted $249 to talk.

Well, based upon the info you've provided, including response to Paul's suggestions, it does seem like an issue with the Visio installation.  My recommendation would be to do a full un-install and re-install.  But, you can wait to see if anyone else has suggestions.  Again, to avoid confusion, I have V2007, not V2010, so cannot address specific V2010 issues.
