Beginner with loads of questions

I just found your forum and I am so glad to have found it because I taught myself Visio after the person who used to handle all the organization and seating charts left the company (without a notice so I was left to teach myself).
I get by ok (not great) but now I'm at a place I really need some help. I have a seating chart (with about 100 offices/cubs, and storage places. SO. whenever we publish it to pdf so we can send it to everyone there is a problem. It publishes fine in Visio, however, when they try to print it there is an error message stating that they need to contact the creator of the pdf. Since I don't have any problems when I publish other things from Visio to PDF it has to be the problem of this file. SO, after some checking we noticed there are some weird little xxx's around the outside of the page itself. We don't know where they came from or what they are or why they are even there. And we can't delete them or even select them at all. Has anyone had this problem and how do we fix it?

The 'x' is used to show a connection point, to check if this is the case you can turn off the view of connection points (on the View menu).
If they are connection points the next thing is to work out which shape they are on!

In addition to Paul's answer, sometimes inadvertent connection points are unwittingly placed randomly on a drawing.  (Usually happens when you think a shape is selected, but isn't.)  From the menu bar you can select the Connection Point Tool (it looks like an "x").  Then click on one of those little "x's" to select it, and then delete.  Just be sure it's not a connection point that you need.
