I've been a Visio user since the early 1990's before Microsoft became involved. Over the years, I've become fairly adept at creating illustration drawings for a variety of technical documents.

When I purchased a new PC a year ago, equipped with Windows 7 Pro, I found that unlike many applications that continued to work just fine, Visio 2000 was (intentionally, I believe) unstable.  Reluctantly, I upgraded to Visio 2010, and entered re-education camp as I searched for many commands in the new ribbon toolbar arrangement.

I purchased VisioGuy's book hoping it would help, but I found it to be primarily a beginner's guide describing how to draw a box, save it, and print it.  What I would be interested in is a command reference guide - a glossary of the multitude of available commands in Visio 2010, and examples of use of the more abstract commands.  Probably half the commands are self-evident, but I've never really understood the differences of the operations "Join", "Union", and "Fragment", for example.  I think I know what they should do, but when unusual things happen, I just "undo" and attack the drawing differently.  Does anyone know of such a reference for advanced users who are midway between novices and professional developers?

You might try some of these. Even though the reference talks v2007 vs. v2010 for at least some of it the relationship is menu bar to ribbon.

Thanks for the lead.  I checked these out, but they're mostly translation directories - where to find all the commands now that they're nested differently in Visio 2010.  When you right-click on the Quick Access Toolbar and select Customize and then Choose Commands from All Commands, a huge selection of available commands appears.  Many are self evident, but many are cryptic.  I'm guessing I could make good use of many of them, but lack the time to experiment.
