Recently using Visio 2010 to produce a drawing for a woodwork project I needed to accurately place shapes that represented features of the project, e.g. holes with centres.

For most of the features I was able to use lines that I had arranged & positioned to provide a centre that I could then position the hole to.

Occasionally I found I had a position that was defined by an intersection of two shapes, e.g. a line crossing a circle.  I needed to place the feature accurately at this intersection but there was no defined point I could use on the circle that would support using the position options.  I placed the hole by eye using zoom & then pan & zoom to ensure the placement was as accurate as possible.

I would rather use the arrange & position options in Visio.

Is there a way that I can identify the intersection in order to place my shape?

Sounds like you need a Guide Point.
Hover your mouse over the blue cross at the intersection of the rulers, then drag a guide point onto your drawing and drop where you want.
Ensure you have the Size & Position window open to help locate the guide point.

That worked like a charm!  I love it when I learn something new!  Thanks!
