In Visio, for a deployment diagram, what objects should I use for the artifacts?

Paul Herber

You can't add artifacts directly. You have to drop a Component shape on the diagram, double-click it to bring up its properties, then when you drop a Node on the diagram and double-click it, in the list of components you will see the component you added earlier.

The version of UML built-in to Visio is too old and out of date to have proper artifacts.
