I am using Visio 2007 here in the office.  (I have no option to go to office 2010).

I was creating a timeline for a visit.  (I am using Visio for the timeline so that it packages nicely with all the network diagrams that I have created in relationship to the timeline)

It started off great.  Created the Divided timeline, started to put a line milestone for my arrival and a block interval for the techincal meeting.  Worked perfect, it put the TIME for the format.  (As you can see in the attached graphic)

Then as I started to add an expanded timeline and add some events to it, the DATES were put on display instead of the TIMES.  I am at my wits end in trying to get the fromat the same again.

I have gone into Shape Data of the milestone/block interval,
Changed date format from the pull down menu.
I have gone into Shape Data of the timeline,
Changed date format from the pull down menu.
I have cut and paste the "working" items and redited the times

I have started from scratch

Looked up for references in "Visio 2007 Bible"

looked up for references in "Visio 2007 for dummies"

Looked up for references in "In and outs of Visio 2007"

PLEASE, someone out there has to know how to fix this.

I know Microsoft loves to do the "This is how you WILL format your data" routine on everything, but can they make it anymore difficult for me to set up my data MY way?

TIA!!!

Thank you for your reply.  I guess I am missing something, because I still can not get the times to show up for me.

I click drag the block interval to the timeline:

Then the diaglog box pops up:

I configure the dates and times:

Click Ok and the dates are shown:

What am I doing wrong?

TIA

Probably my bad.  I don't remember making this change, but, select the block interval shape (if it already isn't), open its shapesheet.  In the User-defined section, scroll down to the entry, User.visMask.  There should be an entry something like "{{M/d/yyyy}}".  Change it to be something like this:  "{{M/d/yyyy h:mm am/pm}}"

I don't see a way to do this from the menus.  It is somewhat driven by the format of the cylindrical timeline.  Guess they didn't figure that you'd be interested in hour format for a timeline that might span many days.

My apologies for my error, not MS's.
