FlipX not updating when a shape is flipped horizontally

Hi all,
   I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with FlipX not updating when a shape is flipped horizontally.

I've got some cable shapes that have text and I have formulas changing the horizontal alignments and left and right margins based off of the shape's FlipX cell to stay within the "boundary" of the shape, but I recently noticed during debug that the shape's FlipX is not being updated.  When I create a simple shape I see FlipX switching from FALSE to TRUE, but not this shape.  I thought that maybe it had to do with the "group" heirarchy of the shape, but this shape is a simple connector with special line ends so it is only a single "item" with no grouping.

Any ideas?
