As I've got to update various manuals and help files to show the new ribbon features of Visio 2010 I thought I'd create a list of all the ribbon <-> menu equivalents. Some old menu items seem to have disappeared! If anyone can fill in the gaps I'll do an update.

Paul,

Very, very cool. I might turn this into an article, because this is going to be a sticking point for all Pre-2010 how-to articles!

Thanks for submitting this!

Thanks, Paul. This will be extremely useful.

Paul,

I've added some additional equivalences in the attached. I also moved your text file into Excel because I find it a bit easier to work with... e.g., that allowed me to use blue text so my changes are obvious. If you disagree with anything, let me know.

Now all we need is to add a Visio 2007 column to pick up the few differences between it and 2003...

I just stumbled across this page:
   http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CL101817133.aspx?CTT=5&origin=HA101794130
It contains a full set of menu-to-ribbon reference guides for Office 2010 -- including for Visio! I haven't verified the accuracy of the Visio document but it appears to be even more complete than the one that Paul posted to start this thread.

To save you having to jump through the download hoops for the Visio document, I've attached it to this message.

Regards,
Scott

Thanks Scott,
some of those Visio 2010 "File | Options | Customize Ribbon | All Commands" are somewhat misleading. You can't access the commands from there, all you can do is add them to the ribbon.

I noticed that, Paul. It's a bit of a cheat on the part of whoever created the chart -- it makes it look like there are more menu-to-ribbon correspondences than there really are -- but I guess the rest of the information still makes it worthwhile.

I had forgotten about this thread and published this other set of resources.

Mostly aimed at Office 2003/2007 apps that didn't have the ribbon to after they have the ribbon:

The interactive menu locator is nice if you have a spatial memory like me!
