How do I stop visio from choosing which connection point to use

Hi, thanks in advance for your help.

At some point Visio's behaviour for connectors seems to have changed. Previously I could easily attach a connector to a specific connection point on my shapes. Now when I attempt to attach a connector to a connection point Visio insists on highlighting the shape and then placing the connector where on whichever point thinks it should go. It is possible to force Visio to connect to a specific point but it is very difficult and requires precise placement of the mouse with lots of failed attempts.

Also, when I move a shape Visio will move the connector to different connection points based on its own internal logic and refuses to leave them where I placed them originally.

This is very challenging in process reviews with clients as it causes the connection lines to cross and is slow to fix.

I would like to have Visio attach the connector to the connection point I select and leave it there when the shape is moved.

I've turned off auto-connect in my settings and serched the web for a solution but no luck. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Do you have glue to connection points enabled?  => ribbon > View tab > expand to see Snap & Glue pop-up Window > select check box Connection points.

Interesting.  Can you upload a sample file with the problem?

One more thing to check...
Ribbon>View>Visual Aids> Advanced tab: set the Snap strength for the Points to maximum if it isn't.  A low setting will give connection points minimum priority, possibly preventing a connector from gluing to said point.
