If I create a master, say a simple rectangle, on a new Stencil and drag it onto the page the shape that results is a copy of the master.
If I make a change to the master, for instance, edit stencil, edit master, add a connection point using the ShapeSheet, save everything) I was expecting to see the same change repeated on the original rectangle on the page. However it isn't.

Any new shapes generate from the master have the change.

What have I misunderstood or done wrong?

Yes, by dropping the master on your drawing the newly created shape gets a master in the document's stencil. That's where you should look. If you nevertheless want to reflect the changes of your stencil, you'll need to replace the shape by the orginal master (right mouse click, "change shape", etc.)

Thank you for the reply and confirming that I wasn't doing anything silly.  That is a bit frustrating but at least my understanding has moved forward.

If I want to make changes to all the shapes which were based on the original stencil master shape I will need to either manually adjust them all or run some VBA to make the change (I potentially have hundreds of shapes from each master).

Thanks

I don't have Right mouse / change shape as an option :( Is this something that came in after 2016?

Yacine

I don't know when this option came in. But just in case, this is the option I'm talking about.

You cannot view this attachment.

Mind that you can replace several shapes at once.

If on the other hand, we're speaking about a lot of different masters and a lot of documents, then yes automation would be the way to go.

Thank you for that, I'd never noticed that before!   Interesting and it worked, but automation will be required given the number I am dealing with.
Thank you
