Forum Problem (June 2024) FIXED!

Hi All,

The service provider migrated my account to "some new form" of cPanel a day or two ago.

The home page for the forum does not load, and the error log is full of complaints about a timeout error, e.g.

"PHP Fatal error:  Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /path/path/forum/Sources/Subs.php on line 3809"

(If the home page loads for you, please let me know! It seems that some of you are finding your way to various threads...)

I've put in a support request, but heard nothing back from them.

As a workaround, I've created a sort of index page so that you can get to parts of the forum.

He managed to find a magic checkbox that fixed everything. We can't thank him enough!

It looks like our bulletin board code isn't working, but we'll see if we can restore that soon. So your formatting, links, code, etc. won't look right for awhile.

Are the restrictions no longer in effect or is there something wrong with me?

I see the problem in the back corner of the engine bay...

But seriously, I decreased the number of Recent Posts shown on the home screen, and that allowed me to activate the BB Code and not have the execution-time-exceeded error. This seems like a very odd correlation, and makes me wonder if a particular post had something in it that was causing problems. Although I wouldn't think a post's content would have any bearing on a list of post titles! Anyway, if anybody has any ideas...
