Beginner User - Need help creating a basic custom line pattern

Hello,

Our company has started using Visio to create as-built utility drawings for construction sites.

I'd like to create two custom dashed-line patterns that look something like this:

-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-

and

-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-

I am having trouble designing the custom shape so that the single letters appear between the dashes.

Please help.

I don't think text shows up in the custom line pattern.  But, you can convert the text to a "graphic" object using June the 2nd's text converter, user-submitted stuff>Visio Wordart:  http://visguy.com/vgforum/index.php?topic=1006.0.

Edit Add:  After converting the text to a shape, make sure you turn off the line pattern around the text shape.  Otherwise, it will tend to create a blob when applied as part of the custom line pattern.

Wow, this worked great.  Thanks so much for your help.

Do you know of any means of preserving the gravity of the images that form the letters?  That is, can you edit the shapesheet properties so that the images always appear right-side up?

"Gravity" is normally applied to text.  The effect of correcting for rotation might be extended to sub-member shapes of a group (although I've not tried that).  Extending it to parts of a custom line seems highly unlikely...

Edit update:
1.  Confirmed that it's possible to anti-rotate sub-members of a group.
2.  Doesn't extend into custom line -- not surprising.
