Well, I have not sent any marketing emails, ever. Just don't like them somehow. Also, I don't ask users to log in to download stuff, so basically there is no email database, I only get the email if user contacts the support explicitly.
If somebody wants to subscribe to updates, now there is RSS (for dinosaurs like me), LinkedIn Page, and the Telegram channel
