Hello
I have a very large drawing (30x60"), which I need to get printed, split onto 11x17" pages.
When I print to fit a single page, everything is printed fine.
As soon as I print on the large color printer or on a PDF in split mode, some areas get not printed, specifically large rectangles with a custom fill pattern. I can see the background underneath and the extra patterns I pasted on top. But the fill pattern is left out and transparent.
This is fully reproducible for prints that require to split the page (print page is set to 11x17, scaling is set to 1:1, drawing size is 30.3x60.2".
If I print as one page in 1:1 scale with the built in PDF or XPS output in Visio, the page is correct again.

I tried three printers and a PDFengine.

Does anybody have an idea?
Thanks
Joe

Hmmm... many views but no advise?

Have you tried the single 11x17 on the large plotter?  Sounded like the complete 11x17 was on a different printer, so I'm wondering if there's a print driver issue.

BTW, which version of Visio & OS?

I got it to work with a massive workaround:
install a trial of Adobe Illustrator and load the PDF, make tweaks and print from AI in tiles.
I tried everything else before and could not get a viable output as a tiled print out of Visio

Currently I am using Windows 7/64 Bit Enterprise on an i5 with 8GB of RAM.
The Visio version is 2010 Standard, build 14.0.6029.1000.

I have another large print that needs to be done end of this month and would love to get resolution on this issue.

Thanks

As I re-read your oiginal post, I see I misinterpreted what you wrote.  Apologies.

It sounds like Visio is having trouble breaking the fill patterns.  I assume they span multiple 11x17 sheets.  You might explore saving the original Visio file as a png file, then, open the png file in Visio.  That might allow you to split into multiple pages without problem.

You could also try other formats to see if they work better than the png.  Also, there are other graphic programs besided A.I. (as in cheaper) that may function as your printer interface.
