Title: Associate shape text with shape ID
Post by: Sundog on August 17, 2016, 03:30:41 PM
I use SuperUtils to get a listing of hyperlinks on a Visio 2016 diagram. An example listing: "From SomeDiagram.vsd#Page-1/Process.8 to SomeURL". I need to change these hyperlinks.

What is needed is a way to find shape Process.8 among the 10 or 20 process shapes on the diagram. In the example, Process.8 has text "Fabrication". So a listing of shape type, number, and associated text would work. Is this possible?

Assume you're making these changes manually, and you want to  a particular shape, and you know the shape ID, and the page it is on...

One way would be to open the Drawing Explorer window, expand the Foreground Pages tree, expand the Page tree of interest, expand Shapes tree.  From there, you can select the shape you're looking for, and it will be selected in the drawing window.

The rest is up to you.

Thanks for the explanation; it's a great help, and will assist me.

Can a listing of shape type, number, and associated text be created from SuperUtils?

SuperUtils may not report all of the things you list.  The home page of this forum provides link to Paul Herber's site.  Best to ask him directly.

An alternative might be to create a custom report, see:  https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Create-a-report-of-shape-data-d277cef5-0613-42ad-8738-4d07954d3e93 (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Create-a-report-of-shape-data-d277cef5-0613-42ad-8738-4d07954d3e93)

SuperUtils can now do this from the Shapes on Page report.
Hope it helps.
