There exists a so-so 3D 3rd Paty application for Visio, but you're stuck with their shapes.
3D would be AWESOME!
It would be great to be able to build shapes in 3D as well.
Visio 2013 has some very cool 3D effects. It's not true 3D modeling, but you can really spice up your diagrams now!
