Title: Visio axDrawingControl and Fluent Ribbon
Post by: AndyW on November 06, 2015, 09:14:13 AM
Has anyone had any success at using the drawing control and integrating the ribbon in a c# application. Currently I automate a Visio application, so have the full interface. I've been asked to look at creating an application using the drawing control instead, however, I can see how the ribbon can be integrated with this. Or does this mean I have to create my own interface for everything?

Andy,

I understand the frustration, however. Does the party requesting an axDrawingControl implementation understand that to use it the full visio product must still be installed on the workstation.
Sometimes the request is made with the mis-understanding that they can save on license/product costs.

Yes they are aware that it still requires the purchase of a full Visio licence.

It worked before ribbon in some way (using properties .NegotiateMenus and .NegotiateToolbars).
But for the "ribboned" Visio, there is no other option but to build UI yourself, as far as I know  :(
I.e. these properties are still there, but they seem to do nothing in case of the ribbon.
