Title: Visio 2007 Imported Data
Post by: Nunzy83 on January 04, 2013, 10:36:58 PM
Hello fellow users, need assistance please.

I am linking an excel into a floor map. After uploaded the excel, the data in clmn A (Seat #) stopped populating halfway through. It is odd since only clmn A is affect as all other cells import fine. I have attached what I using, the Excel and then how it looks in Visio after the upload.

The 300+ seats are all 4 digits in 1234 format EXCEPT a handful that are in 01AB12 format. This format seems to be causing the glitch? I tried moving them down, reformatting the cells, applying Text format, remove Excel, re-enter Excel,  redo map, etc. and I can't figure it out and its driving me bananas.

Any help would me great as always!

It's probably the issue that Visio has to determine the data type automatically based on the first several (10?) data rows. Since your first rows appear to be numeric and then change at the point of failure to alphabetic that would cause a data validation error. I'd suggest putting a dummy row in at the first row where the column has alphabetic information.
