Title: Save a formula in Shape Data Sets
Post by: Blckadder on January 04, 2013, 12:41:30 AM
I'm having a problem trying to save a formula, not the value, into a shape data set.  I've created some simple fixed and text based entry fields and have strung them together to make a set output (used to order fiber cables).  When I build the formula in the Shape Data value field it works great, but when making a Shape Data Set all it saves is the final value and not the formula.

Some constraints -
I want to be able to apply this to any shape/connector so making a master is not an option
I cannot use VBA script for security reasons

Any help would be appreciated.

Updated example:

User input fields:
Fiber duplex/simplex:  Duplex
Fiber core size:  50/125
Fiber length: 5m

Under Shapesheet Shape Data:
Prop.FiberStrands.Value: Duplex
Prop.FiberCore.Value: 50/125
Prop.FiberLength.Value: 5m
Prop.Result.Format: No Formula
Prop.Result.Value:  =Prop.FiberLength&" "&Prop.FiberCore&" "&Prop.FiberStrands&"Fiber Patch Cable"

When saved as a Shape Data Set the field does not retain the formula, just "5m 50/125 Duplex Fiber Patch Cable"

The desired product would be a Shape Data Set that I can then apply to other connector objects that have the modular Result field.

I don't understand your problem. Could you upload an example of what you want to achieve?
