Hi All,

The purpose of this post is to update everyone on the status of my project. I have been asking questions for the past 2 months. Everytime I ask a question, i get a perfect answer. This forum has been the best thing I found on the Internet in years! I could go on and on with my thanks but I must call out Wapperdude, Yacine, Surrogate and Thomas Winkel for their awesomeness!

I am linking a YouTube video with a quick showing of the file. The resolution is poor but it is crisp as can be on my PC. I am also linking the DropBox locatioon of the file in the event anyone wishes to see or use the code.

So many things are used in this file.
1. Centering of UserForms across Visio. (Without code they pop up anywhere.)
2. Using a UserForm as a Progress Bar.
3. Layer Control across pages.
4. Layer control by Layer Name.
5. Layer control by Layer number.
6. Turning On or Off Layers that are in Sequence.
7. Turning On or Off Layers that are Not in Sequence.
8. Using Spatial Neighborhood to "Pick Out and Copy" a section of a page to a new page.
9. Opening in Full Screen Mode.
10. Preventing going to the "Next Page" while in presentation mode if clicking on the drawing.
    (Uses a blank hyperlink that simply redirects to the same page resulting in not going to the next page).
11. Printing to 8.5 x 11 pages even if drawing layout is 11x17.
12. SaveAs Functionality.

No doubt I am missing many things that I have learned on VisGuy!!

Here is a YouTube Video.

Here is the File Link. (Too big for this forum).Topology Creator Download

Thank you all!

Most impressive.  That is a very nice, comprehensive development.  Well done.

It's been a very interesting journey.  Going to miss the adventures of Biomedmike!

Not to worry, I can't sleep at night thinking of the additional things I want to do with the program.

Is there a Visio 12-Step program I can join?

Thank you!

I don't think anyone knows for sure.  Usually, individuals trip after 2 or 3 steps, suffer injuries that require abandoning the effort.   :o  ::)  :-[

It looks like AA?
QuoteGreetings, my name is Alexander. I am a Visio-maniac. I've been trying to stop this for 3 years now.....
This addiction is difficult to treat!!!

Congratulation :)

I can imagine that this is very helpful for keeping track of large projects.
Well presented on Youtube 👍

My biggest concern is that the implementation is relative static. Future changes will be quite complex and require programming knowledge.
But maybe that's not relevant for your intended use.

I see many follow-up projects:
* Export the calculation
* Parts lists
* Change management
* ...

Looks great Mike, very interesting application. So for anybody having trouble reading the screen, just remember to hit the gear icon on YouTube and crank up the resolution -- it's clear as a bell at 1080p!

Quick question, there's a live database on the backend, yes? Not to pry into anything proprietary, but generically speaking Visio is acting as a graphical user interface / data validator for some finite number of related but disparate data input and reporting portals? Collect answers to questions, validate data, and submit data packets to select clients, generally speaking?

Just asking to get my head around some capabilities I had not yet considered, thanks!

Hello IceRafter,

The purpose of the file I created is to capture everthing a customer wishes to implement/purchase from our company. We have a very complex offering that can be as simple as a single monitor that measures a single patients heart. i.e. In an Operating Room they want to make sure your heart is beating correctly while you are under anesthesia. That is as simple as our solution gets.

However, the most complicated of our solutions go from that to an entire hospital of monitors monitoring thousands of patients, using hospital networks managing wireless devices integrated with smart phones that can control the system, send life critical alerts and view live patient waveforms. There are almost 100 different questions (each with 3-8 different answers) that need to be asked and understood for a complex solution.

This file asks the questions and then draws the answers in a topology drawing. It also verbally summarizes (on a separate page) the written answers to each of the questions.

If I was not seeing the retirement lamp in a few years, this could turn into a quoting tool that defines product numbers, installation materials, install time, etc.

I hope that helps explain why I created the file. None of whick could be done without this forum!
