2007: template properties aren't carrying over into new drawings when using VBA

I've been using VBA with Visio 2003 to open up a template file (.vtx) and create a new org chart that was then uploaded (through the Save As Web function) to our website. The special shape attributes (color and shape width) that I entered into the shapesheet on the template were retained and appeared in each new drawing.

I just upgraded to 2007 and noticed that the template properties aren't carrying over into the new drawings when using VBA to execute the drawing.  When I "manually" use the wizard the special attributes appear though.

Any ideas on how to get this to work properly?
