1 yes mandatory updates....the beauty of 365 is that since its a cloud play, you get updates
Also, since MS has changed the behavior of visio 365 before (layout of home panel changed), they could have changed
it again.
2 Reinstalling...yes...no difference
3 Well, PyCharm (and a couple Python packages) but I doubt that corrupted drawings....no other new apps.
(obviously get the preverbal MS security updates...I guess I can try to back them out).
4 I dont think so since I can upload as is to 365 cloud and open successfully up there
Also, various file converters can open the file as well and present the diagram....those converters seem to crash when
downloading down to me (drawing as VSDX ==> PDF or Word or PPT). I am skeptical about trying to Libre office since
last time I checked (couple of years ago, it could only accept very simple visio drawings).
5 I can try (need to add device to the 365 license and then install latest visio).
This will take time, will need get that old laptop set up for this
If I can send you 1 file and you can confirm you can open, I believe that will be quicker and more productive
(either the file opens or it crashes for you was well).
Also,
- I am able to open stencils used to create this drawing....and use them in some new simple diagrams
(the file is 8MB and probably has about 200 shapes or so).
