Hi all,

First post here!  This one has been driving myself and a colleague batty, was wondering if anyone had a quick fix.
I'm using the 'Create' functionality and importing a set of data into Visio. Visio gets it mostly there, but I have to do ~5 minutes of reformatting to get it correct.  Then, I apply a Data Graphic to each of the steps (ex: a Flag) using a column in the Excel file.  Visio reformats to what it looked like when I imported!

This means I need to know exactly what I want my data graphics to look like before I format and structure.  More problematic, I can't toggle on the fly anymore.  Is there something else I should be trying here (revised import, playing around with layers) to avoid reformatting when toggling data graphics? Is this a known issue?

Thanks!!

Nikolay

Have not quite got  the problem but will try to guess  :)

Have you tried to turn off automatic data graphics?
On the Data Ribbon, under Data Graphics, there is a check box for "Apply after linking data to shapes"
If you uncheck it, visio will stop applying data graphics automatically.

The location of this checkbox depends on the version, below is a screenshot from the latest one:

This is very annoying! I always try to turn it off before linking to the data
