Need help on timelines

Hello,

I have tried looking for this answer all over the place and either I am not wording it correctly for a google search or it is so obvious no one has had to ask it before my confused self came along.

I am trying to make a timeline that will automatically update the milestones inside of it when the start and stop date change. (ie, Timeline starts at 5/1, first milestone is 5/5. If I change the start date to 6/1, the milestone will change to 6/5.)

I can't seem to find anything on this and I am getting desperate enough to start trying to create my timeline in excel.

Since it would appear that you might be attempting to use Visio's timeline function as a project management tool, imho you might consider M$ Project. The ability to move from there to Visio is handled very nicely by David Parkers add-in

Don't the Gantt charts do that? Can you use the Gantt Chart templates? (Which can import from and export to MS Project, to pick up on Al's comment)
