Visio2007- can't drag from Clip Manager to Visio2007-freezing

I have been using Visio2007 for over a decade, primarily because of the Clip Manager. Today I tried to drag and drop an image from the clip manager into Visio but my Visio freezes! However it works in the other from Visio to Clip Manager.
I have tried a recovery to an earlier date, but 3 attempts have failed! I have tried a 'repair' and a clean installation, but it also did not work.
Any ideas how to get the clip manager and Visio to work together again?

Odd you should report this, my Visio 2010 started doing this just yesterday. Drop a shape on a page from a stencil and the shape stays selected, but you can do other operations, but the selection stays.

Thanks, you are confirming my suspicion that it was a Microsoft windows update and I need to find a way to roll back and everything will be OK!

Does this happen when dropping a normal shape from a stencil?

No Paul,
Stencils work fine, drag and drop from Clip Manager->Visio2007 works file, only when I drag and drop from Visio->Clip Manager [ie storing a new clip] both my Visio and the Clip Manager freeze for a long time. I have deleted everything in the Office12 folder, and I have re-installed Visio a few times and nothing seems to work.

Attached is a screen shot of of the page, there is an icon which appears next to the pointer  I have not noticed in the past. Perhaps it is a clue as to what is happending.
