Tube line pattern

Hi guys,

I'm new, how's it going?

I'm not deeply familiar with Visio's inner workings and I would like to create a new line pattern in the shape of a tube, with lines on either side and nothing in the middle.
What I'd like to see is this

with the connector taking the shape of a tube (recreated with 4 actual lines instead of a connector), however, if I create the custom line pattern as just two parallel lines like so

it shows up as

with the parallel lines perpendicular to the actual direction of the connector.

Is there a way to fix this?
