Visio is printing/exporing cropped portions

Hey guys, I use visio on a daily basis but i am completely stumped here. I have inserted some PDF backgrounds into visio and cropped them for the potions needed. However when I export or even print the drawings, the entire pdf background is showing up. Not just the cropped portion. I have done this hundreds of times but now for some reason it is not working.

Any ideas?

don't know about your specific problem, but if I needed to do that (some region of an image), I would use
Windows snipping tool (included in windows 10)  and save that as JPG or PNG.
Then bring it into Visio and place where you want it.

No point bring all the bulk of the full image/file into visio.
