Images in the ShapeSheet?

 I had an image in the clipboard and accidentally pasted to a cell today.

The ShapeSheet is just about the very last thing that Microsoft ever works on, so this is a surprise, if it is foreshadowing and not just a mistake!

Note: the image doesn't stay after you hit Enter. I was also able to paste the image to the Edit Formula dialog, but when you hit Enter, the resulting formula is " ". Also, some cells end up with No Formula, and some cells end up with " " after you hit Enter.

Edit: I'm using Visio 2019 for Office 365. That means I get updates all of the time. Not sure if any of the other "fixed" versions have this "feature".

The surprising paste result even had resize handles!

I'll keep an eagle-eye out for stuff like this.

Interesting...but not terribly useful.

Of course it's not useful as-is, but I find these tantalizing:

  • There's always the excitement of the Easter Egg Factor
  • It begs the question: "What is Microsoft up to? What wonderful new features are in store?"
  • Did some Microsoft dev screw up, and was he fired?

It's Easter?!?   ::)   We're really in a different time zone!   ;)

OK.  Easter eggs are fascinating.  I've never really gone looking for them other than thru someone else's discovery.

I'm wondering something a little more dark...does it open a backdoor for mischievousness or worse?  That would only mean one thing...more updates.   >:(

I'd guess it's a programming mistake. When activating a Paste routine the code must check the clipboard formats available. In the shapesheet I think only a limited number of text formats should be accepted (there are several text formats) but the various image formats certainly shouldn't be accepted. I think.
