Hi forum,

with each (of my own) Visio files that I open, the following windows, or Visio templates, respectively, are additionally opened, behind my document:

- Custom line patterns:1 - Linpat_m.vss
- Custom line patterns:2 - Linpat_m.vss
- Custom pattern - Not scaled:1 - Ptuscl_m.vss
- Custom pattern - Not scaled:2 - Ptuscl_m.vss
- My_Fills.vss

Is that necessary, and if not, how could it be turned off?

In addition, one of these *.vss files seems to cause Visio to reopen each time it is closed (fortunately then, it opens empty without any of these files).

(This is on Visio 2003)

Thanks for ideas how to stop this.

Visio usually saves a drawing "with a workspace", i.e. with a set of windows (such as stencils) which were opened at the moment when click save.
But this also includes other windows, like ShapeSheets, styles, etc, if they were opened.

You should be able to fix that by simply closing those unwanted windows and then re-saving the diagram.

This may be some evil extension's doing, you could check if you have any suspects.
