Visio Events get queued up? Is it possible to dump this queue

I'm fighting an issue where I find that even after unhooking Shape.CellChanged and Application.Selection_Changed, as soon as I hook them back up, they fire.

This leads me to believe there is a queue they wait around in.

Does anyone know about this? What object it might be on and possibly how to dump or remove the events? This may solve my problem.
