How create custom ribbon with buttons with custom icons ?

I want add my custom icons for ribbon's buttons.
Few years ago my friend did something like this in MS Word, he placed png icons into docx-archive. Also he write references to these icons in XML documents into docx-archive and in description for custom ribbon.
I can't ask my friend, because he is die.

Hi Surrogate. Attached is an example to put your icon on a ribbon button. Place the "Valve.png" file to "C:\" and open the Visio file.

I don't think the way your friend did with MS Word is applicable to Visio. I tried it a couple of months ago but couldn't make it work. It would be better to embed .png file directly in visio archive but at least there is an alternative way.
