Data Linking with SQL Server

I have been using Data linking for many years and I now have an issue I can't seem to figure out. Of the DB team says it's a Visio issue so I thought I would start here. I hope that I can articulate what my problem is.

I within the database linking process I have been able to complete steps up to select columns. It's working as expected. I go to select a column I select the drop-down arrow window and then my selection window opens then closes immediately not allowing me to select a row. This is a behaviour I have not seen. 

I am running windows 10 and Visio 2016.

Any thoughts?

Is this some sort of UI bug in Visio 2016 you are describing?
I think you might want to make a short video maybe for us (or for M$ support) to understand what you mean.

Other than that, you always can configure data connection programmatically (with VBA)
