Assign connectors to layers based on their label text.

After auto-creating a large crossfunctional flowchart from excel data, I have a lot of connectors with different repeating labels.  I really need to assign different connectors to different layers based on the label's text.  So far, after many grueling hours, I've only succeeded with drawing expletives on my screen with my own blood and tears.  I need help! Please.
