Keyboard shortcut to toggle layer visible setting on/off

Can someone walk me through the steps to define a keyboard shortcut to toggle the Visible setting for a particular layer on and off?

I could also live with a Quick Access Toolbar, but I'd prefer a keyboard shortcut.

Commands from Quick Access Toolbar you can start with two keys: Ctrl Alt + <some number>
Other shortcuts need three or more keys
