Hi,

I have created a stencil which contains around 20 shapes and now i want these shapes to be grouped so that these can be distinguished on the basis of their group or container.
How could i perform this action???
Consider an example, my stencil contains following shapes:
Switch, Transmitter, Indicator, Push Button, Valve,   Motor, Pump, OR, AND, NOT, Up counter, Down Counter, ON Delay, OFF delay, Input, Output.
And now i want these to categorized in 4 groups in stencil  like :

•   Actuator: Switch, Transmitter, Indicator, Push Button, Valve,   Motor, Pump
•   Binary Calculator: OR, AND, NOT
•   Analog Calculator: Up counter, Down Counter,  ON Delay,  OFF delay
•   Misc: Input , Output

How could i do like this ?

Thanks in advance
Vickey

I just put a physical separate between groups

Basically, a horizontal line with the shape name being the category

Pedantic but effective  ;-)

Hi Vojo,

I want to separate shapes with a line too but i also want the stencil to look like:

Actuator:--------------------
Switch
Transmitter
Indicator
Push Button
Valve
  Motor
Binary Calculator:----------------
OR
AND
NOT
Analog Calculator:------------------
Up counter
Down Counter
ON Delay
OFF delay
Misc:---------------------
Input
Output
Could you help me with this ?

Thanks in advance,
Vickey

I don't think there is a way to do anything like this.

Its all based on 2 things
- size of the stencil window
- size of the line

big line can span a big window width

@Vojo:
If I understand correctly, you create a dummy shape and drag it onto the stencil.  Then, once there, you rename it with the category name and a long series of dashes so it occupies a full width in the stencil.  Any other shape on the stencil must either go above or below this "title" shape.  Crude, but clever.  Never thought of doing that.  What about the icon?  I can see where the effectiveness is strongly dependent upon width of stencil and size of title.  ...or have I misunderstood?

that is the idea

yes...crude but simple

I guess you could get slick and make a rectangle with section name and use that instead of line
(not sure the font in the shape would be readable...but prettier)

vojo

or...one could play with the icon image of the shape

1) simple line
2) add it to stencil
3) edit the icon to say section name

I don't think this autosizes either...but maybe prettier

Could also make the line really long and see if it trails off to oblivion in a narrow stencil window

@Vojo:  This approach doesn't seem to work, at least, not in V2007.  Long names get wrapped once and then additional text is truncated.  There doesn't seem to be any way to force single, extended line of text.
