Problem Shapes, Connectors, Masters

I have been using Visio for some time started with 2003. I created a drawing some time ago with Visio 2010 and recently had to go back to it, I am using Visio 2013. When I hover over a shape it is bringing up 4 arrow like handles. If I hover over one of the arrows it brings up a box with Master shapes and then tries to create a connector to the Master. I don't use connectors. Sorry if my explanation is a bit vague, any help would be appreciated.

In Menu "View" there should be an option "auto connect" (or similar - I'm using a german version). Unselect this option to get rid of the function.
