ORG CHARTING - MULTIPLE PHOTOS - UNABLE TO DELETE

I have the same problem as described by Bones in his post in July 2014.  I have org charts created in Visio 2010 which have multiple photos attached to each position shape.  I can't delete the unwanted images and when I right-click on the shape and select 'Replace Picture', Visio appears to add an additional new picture rather than deleting the old one.  The file sizes have become unwieldy, 375Mb in one case!

When I try to delete the photos underneath, I get the message "Shape protection, container, and/or layer properties prevent complete execution of this command.".

I've tried un-locking the Delete property in the shapesheet, but no success.

Appreciate any help with this.
