Hi, I'm having trouble with the file size of my Visio template. I am using Visio 2007 and my file has now reached over 10MB.

I have created most of my shapes using Adobe Illustrator and have saved them as .SVG files before adding them to my shape stencils. I have 7 shape stencils that are part of the template, with each shape stencil containing 5 to 10 items.

Is there a way I can reduce my file size?

thanks!

Some of the files produced by Illustrator contain a lot of very fine detail, much of which may not even be visible.
However, if it's the template (the .vst file) that is getting large (rather than the stencils) then check the document stencil. (I'm assuming here that you have an empty (-ish) template and all the shapes should be in stencils).
With the template open - menu File -> Shapes -> Show Document Stencil.
If it's got a lot of shapes in it then this is the problem. Select each in turn and delete it (if you get an error then leave it alone as the shape is on the open document).
Then close the document stencil window and save the template.
