Hi forum,

is this possible with some key combination?

Like when you have selected "n" shapes and things, and you want to deselect a subset of "m" shapes out of the "n" selected shapes -- but without having to deselect every single shape of the "m" subset separately by ctrl-clicking on it?

Thanks

Hi David,

I tried a couple of tricks, but couldn't find anything.

Thank you Chris,

in this case, I will try and use the lasso tool, and for special selection tasks the option setting "Select shapes partially within area".

If it should be possible to toggle the latter option using a Visio toolbar button or macro keyboard shortcut, I'd be happy to learn about it.

Cheers

You can add the Area Select and Lasso Select to the Quick Access Toolbar by right-clicking them (in the Home > Editing > Select drop-down) and choosing "Add to Quick Access Toolbar".

The Quick Access Toolbar can be used to take the place of the old-style toolbar buttons. Add 20 or 30 of your favorite commands to it, and never worry about which ribbon tab to click ever again! :)

Thanks Chris!

If evil powers someday will force me to quit using Office and Visio 2003 in favor of those fiendish Ribbon versions, I shall do as you advise.

Up to then I'll stick with my 2003 RTTM style user interface:
